THE WORK :

  • You’ll assist in developing and executing community outreach plans, including public meetings, workshops, utility events, school presentations, and digital campaigns.
  • You’ll manage media inquiries and interview requests across email, phone, social media, and in-person forums to ensure timely, accurate communication.
  • You’ll craft clear and engaging content for social media, newsletters, press releases, FAQs, and website updates.
  • You’ll support crisis and emergency communications by preparing templates, messaging, and deployment strategies, including availability for nights and weekends as needed.
  • You’ll track outreach metrics such as event attendance, digital engagement, and issue resolution, and help evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns.
  • You’ll collaborate with internal teams including Community Services, Finance, Capital Program, Operations, and System Management to ensure messaging is accurate and aligned with project updates.
  • You’ll maintain and update contact lists and stakeholder databases to support targeted and inclusive outreach efforts.
  • You’ll assist in managing outreach budgets, coordinating event logistics, vendors, and promotional material development.
  • You’ll work with Compliance Team members to ensure timely public distribution of annual Consumer Confidence Reports across all service areas.
  • You’ll coordinate and post outage announcements and public notices on the FGUA website and social media channels.
  • Onsite at client site :  The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
  • With all our roles, there is some in-person time for collaboration, learning and building relationships with clients, peers, leaders and communities. As an employer, we will be as flexible as possible to support your specific work / life needs.
  • HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Environmental Studies, or a related field, with 1–3 years of experience in a public-facing role, ideally within utilities, government, or non-profits
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or regulatory information into clear, accessible messaging
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with experience using social media platforms and content creation tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Skilled in organizing events and public meetings, with excellent organizational abilities, self-motivation, and a strong commitment to public service
  • Comfortable with digital outreach platforms and willing to travel within the state of Florida as needed
  • BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE :

  • Awareness of Florida-specific environmental regulations, water resource management, or utility operations
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish / English) for broader community reach
  • Experience with metrics and outreach analysis
  • Public speaking or facilitation training
