Description :
The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
This role ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
The RN Clinical Nurse practices in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
The position is supported through a Shared Governance Model, steered by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research.
All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold nursing practice as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act.
They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association.
As a member of the patient services team, the RN Clinical Nurse is expected to uphold the voice of the patient.
They ensure adherence to system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
The RN performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.
This is done using evidence-based practice while employing analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure individualized care.
They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
The RN always partners with patients and significant others in setting and achieving care goals.
They practice using current clinical standards and coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
Effective interdisciplinary communication methods are utilized, and timely documentation is completed to promote a respectful environment.
Teamwork and collaboration are essential; the RN practices fiscally responsible care and promotes team retention.
They participate in performance improvement activities inclusive of all stakeholders to promote safe, quality care.
Professional Development and Initiative :
RNs complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education.
They serve as preceptors and mentors for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research :
The RN promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.
They participate in activities such as value analysis in evaluating patient care products.
Upholding organizational policies and procedures, the RN adheres to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
They participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to inform evidence-based practice.
Resources and Support :
The RN proactively plans for patient care across the continuum.
They participate in developing protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members.
Efficient use of human and material resources is supported to achieve best practice outcomes.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
