Vice President Of Academic Affairs

Nebraska Methodist College, located in Omaha, Nebraska, is an accredited, private, not-for-profit nursing and healthcare college. The Vice President Of Academic Affairs serves as the College's strategic leader providing primary administrative leadership direction and evaluation for faculty. The VPAA works in collaboration with the President to provide visionary leadership to promote and foster excellence in all aspects of the College's mission. The VPAA is entrusted with the responsibility of promoting a collaborative and supportive environment for both faculty and students, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and inclusivity. By strategically managing faculty affairs, the VPAA is instrumental in maintaining the college's academic standards, reputation and community engagement.

Responsibilities :

1. Academic Leadership : Provide visionary leadership for the institution's academic programs, ensuring they align with the college's mission, vision, and values. Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

2. Faculty Oversight and Development : Oversee faculty affairs, including recruiting, hiring, promotion and professional development. Support faculty in their teaching, research, and service activities to promote a positive and inclusive academic environment.

3. Student Success and Support : Collaborate with student affairs to enhance student support services, promote student engagement and improve student success outcomes. Promote a student-centric approach by fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that empowers students to thrive and achieve their academic and personal goals.

4. Curriculum Development and Assessment : Work with faculty and academic departments to develop and assess curriculum to ensure that academic programs are rigorous, relevant, and meet accreditation standards.

5. Visionary Leadership of The Learning Center : Establish and execute a vision for The Learning Center's mission. Provide leadership to The Learning Center to ensure a robust portfolio of educational development programs for faculty, students, staff both externally and internally. Monitor the center's budget and resources utilizing data driven strategies for ongoing growth.

6. Management of the Department of Registration and Records : Oversight of the Registrar's office in maintaining the integrity of academic records, supporting student success, and ensures that the institution complies with all relevant regulations and standards.

7. Fiscal Acumen : Develop and manage budgets related to academic affairs, faculty development and student services. Ensure effective and efficient use of resources to support the institution's mission. Knowledge of external funding sources which provide additional support for individual programs and larger strategic initiatives.

8. Strategic Planning : Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the institution's academic priorities and respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in higher education. Oversee and mentor College Dean and Directors in the creation and maintenance of annual reporting documentation to include visionary programmatic goals which roll up into the College's strategic plan.

9. Innovation and Technology : Champion the integration of innovative technologies and pedagogical approaches to enhance the college's academic and operational capabilities. Embrace emerging trends in higher education to maintain the college's competitive edge and Apple Distinguished Schools international distinction.

10. Community Engagement : Represent the college in the community and establish partnerships with external organizations, industry partners, and other educational institutions to enhance the college's visibility and impact. Serve on external Boards of Directors at the local, state and national levels where vital to the college's visioning, partnership. Participation within the Council for Independent College's (CIC) leadership opportunities and advocacy for the CIC's educational offerings to support ongoing development of Deans and other Senior Leaders within the College.

11. Connection and Belonging : Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive campus community that celebrates individual differences and promotes equitable opportunities for all students, faculty, and staff.

12. Board of Directors Interaction : Engage with the college's Board of Directors, providing reports, recommendations, and updates on academic affairs, students services and activities within The Learning Center.

Schedule : Full time, business hours. Evenings / weekends as necessary.

Job Requirements : Education :

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in relevant field of study required.

Experience :

  • Minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in supporting the development of innovative credit and non-credit bearing educational opportunities to meet the needs of today's learners.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, resource management and budget oversight.
  • Previous success in an academic role such as Dean, Department Chair etc.
