The Department of Corrections is accepting applications for a Correctional Maintenance Mechanic position at the Long Creek Youth Development Center, South Portland, ME.

Long Creek Youth Development Center is looking for someone like YOU to apply your specialized skillset? If you've answered yes to any or all of the above, then we have the "right" job for you! This position is essential to the facility's operations and applicants must be willing to participate in stand-by rotation and work holidays and snow days, when necessary. This position is open to DOC employees and all outside applicants.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is structure and craft work involving the general replacement, upkeep, maintenance and repair of heating, plumbing, appliances, building controls, and buildings. Work includes monitoring resident behavior for security purposes and instructing and overseeing the activities of a resident crew engaged in maintenance and repair tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years' experience in the general maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, mechanical systems, and buildings.

LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class.)

Some positions may require specific licenses.
