About the Role

Were seeking an experienced Cloud Design Engineer (CDE2) to develop, maintain, and enhance complex, web-based user interfaces that interact with Big Data cloud systems . You'll play a key role in designing, implementing, and testing solutions within a Hadoop ecosystem , ensuring performance, usability, and security across distributed computing environments.

As part of a high-impact team, you'll directly contribute to innovative cloud technologies, big data visualization, and advanced information retrieval systems supporting mission-critical operations.

What You'll Do

Design and develop web-based applications that retrieve, store, and visualize data in Big Data cloud environments.

Implement graphical, secure, high-performance user interfaces for cloud and distributed applications.

Propose and develop new methods for analyzing and displaying data stored in Cloud BigTable and distributed file systems.

Conduct testing, debugging, and optimization of cloud-based systems, ensuring compliance with government and industry standards.

Provide technical expertise in cloud computing and information retrieval , supporting software development teams.

Oversee one or more software development tasks, ensuring quality control, adherence to documentation standards, and compliance with process requirements.

Make recommendations for improving documentation, development tools, and methodologies.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience on projects of similar scope and complexity, including 2+ years working with Big Data Cloud technologies and / or distributed computing .

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (Masters degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).

Substitution : Four years of cloud software engineering experience may replace a bachelors degree.

Certification substitution : Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer may replace one year of cloud experience.

2+ years developing web-based applications that interface with cloud data systems and comply with modern Web 2.0 standards .

2+ years experience in Cloud or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR) .

1+ year experience working with Cloud BigTable and Distributed File Systems (e.g., HDFS).

Technical Expertise Required

Programming & Tools : Java, Eclipse, Maven, RESTful Web Services, Spring MVC, J2EE, HDFS, HBase, JMS, Multi-Node implementation.

Web Technologies : HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSP / Servlets, Groovy.

Cloud Data Technologies : Hadoop, HDFS, Apache Solr, Apache Lucene, MongoDB.

Cloud Platforms : Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox), Cloud Computing Frameworks.

Security : PKI, firewalls, authentication, Information Assurance, and securing UIs for distributed applications.

Operating Systems : Linux / RedHat, CentOS.

Version Control : Subversion, ClearQuest, Razor.

Preferred Background

3+ years experience in Computer Network Operations, Information Assurance, or SIGINT environments.

Knowledge of SIGINT collection disciplines , including FORNSAT, CABLE, or ELINT.

Understanding of geolocation, emitter identification, and joint collection architectures .

Experience in debugging and profiling Java applications , JVM performance tuning, and distributed system optimization.
