Shift : Full Time Weekend Days, 3 12s / week (7a-7 : 30p), with rotating holidays\n\nDepartment : Adult Overflow Unit\nCompensation : \n\n

  • Base Pay Range : $34.46 - $51.02 per hour / per year, based on experience\n\n
  • Shift Differentials : \n\no Additional $8 per hour for RN Weekend Program Sat / Sun Shifts\n\no Additional $3 per hour for Core Charge\n\n
  • Sign-On Bonus : $25,000\n\no Note : Details will be provided during the HR interview. Join us and make a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families at MU Health Care!\n\nABOUT ADULT OVERFLOW UNIT\n\nThe Adult Overflow Unit is a dynamic 10-bed unit dedicated to treating patients transferred from the ICU, surgery, and the Emergency Department. Our primary focus is on managing floor status patients. Common diagnoses include shortness of breath, COPD, AFIB, weakness, post-surgical recovery, and comfort care. This unit offers a unique opportunity to gain experience with a varied patient population.\n\nThe Adult Overflow Unit is staffed by a dedicated team of two nurses, one nurse tech, and a Core Charge nurse who also supports our sister unit, Medical Bridge.   • See a comprehensive list of benefits here.\n\nDETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION\n\nProvides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.\n\nAssesses, intervenes, and reassesses patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.\n\nDemonstrates an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and patients' chosen support person(s) about medications.\n\nDemonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.\n\nMaintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit.\n\nReports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and records those observations accurately and concisely.\n\nCoordinates daily staffing assignments based on patient acuity and unit needs.\n\nAdjusts staffing levels as necessary throughout the shift to maintain safe patient care standards.\n\nEnsures smooth patient flow and efficient bed management within the unit.\n\nCoordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients as needed.\n\nResponds to clinical emergencies or critical incidents within the unit.\n\nCommunicates effectively with healthcare providers and other departments during emergencies.\n\nFacilitates effective communication between nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.\n\nCollaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes.\n\nProvides clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, including performance feedback.\n\nServes as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical issues and patient care decisions.\n\nAddresses and resolves patient care concerns and complaints promptly, escalating to the clinical manager or Office of Patient Experience as appropriate.\n\nConducts assigned audits of patient charts and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.\n\nParticipates in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based quality improvement activities.\n\nAudits adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines.\n\nParticipates in unit meetings, committees, and projects to contribute to unit goals and initiatives.\n\nParticipates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Full understanding of the attendance and punctuality guidelines and the dress code.\n\nMay complete unit / department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nMissouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.\n\nOne (1) year of RN experience.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nAdditional license / certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\n\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.\n\nThis role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
