Kinder Morgan’s Products Pipelines business unit is seeking a Pipeline Engineer to provide hydraulic, system design, and energy-optimization support services for the Operations Optimization workgroup. This role involves hydraulic modeling, system analysis, and collaboration across multiple teams to support the design, expansion, and operation of refined products pipeline systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain steady state and transient hydraulic models using DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) and Microsoft Excel
Support Products Pipelines expansion initiatives
Collaborate with commercial, operations, scheduling, and project management teams to deliver preliminary designs aligned with project goals
Analyze pipeline operations using hydraulic modeling tools to evaluate system performance and troubleshoot operational issues
Evaluate Fuel & Power viability and economics of various system design scenarios
Collaborate with internal and third-party hydraulic modeling teams, objectively summarize, and differentiate reports
Produce clear and concise reports outlining design recommendations and alternatives
Manage multiple projects concurrently and communicate with management status and development of assigned projects
Accountable for completing tasks with quality and compliance with codes and standards
Special projects as required

Experience / Specific Knowledge :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required – civil, chemical, mechanical or petroleum engineering
With a degree, additional 5-7 years’ experience evaluating in-service liquid pipeline hydraulics.
Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting and applying engineering principles, theories, and concepts related to hydraulic flow and energy efficiency
Experience with SCADA systems and real-time pipeline monitoring
Strong understanding of pipeline and terminal equipment, pumps, tanks, and metering
Experience in equipment specification, selection, installation and operation
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Visual Basic for Applications, PowerPoint, and Access, for purpose of word processing, spreadsheets, analysis, presentations and information retrieval. Must be able to develop and manipulate complex Excel spreadsheets
