About The Position

Job Title : RN - PCU

Experience : Minimum of 2 years PCU experience, including heavy neuro experience preferred

License : Valid RN License

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

• Strong skills in lumbar drains, stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain / tube management.
• Experience with PCA pumps, medication management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids, and nicardipine drips.

Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit.

The unit has a total of 19 beds.

This role requires monitoring and care for post-operative neurosurgery patients, including craniotomy for brain tumors and other complex neurosurgical procedures.

Common diagnoses include subdural hematomas, CSF leaks, seizures, and higher-acuity patients requiring EVD / ICP monitoring.

Patient ratios are typically 1 RN to 3 patients in PCU.

Candidates will be expected to float to other units as needed.

No specific monitoring tech is available; nurses are responsible for interpreting monitor data.

Weekend rotations occur every other weekend, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.

Up to 6 days off can be approved except for holidays and must be added to the contract end if contracted hours cannot be met.

Scrub color is navy.
