Volunteers of America-Greater New York is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

We are in search of new talent in the following position:

Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor is responsible for facilitating daily shelter operations.

Cromwell Avenue Safe Haven is a facility that provides temporary housing, nutritious meals, clean clothing, counseling groups and case management services to formerly homeless men.

Location: Bronx, NY 10452

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred plus one-year relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social service setting.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Certifications in security required and Fire Safety (F-80) obtained within 3 months of hire.

Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor Principal Responsibilities:

1. Supervise delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication.
2. Ensure optimal customer service is being provided to clients.
3. Ensure recreation activities are occurring.
4. Ensures the facility is adequately staffed at all times.
5. Work with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.
6. Supervise facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety.
7. Manage community relations and communicate with relevant authorities as needed.
