Overview

This team is the backbone of Visa's global infrastructure- responsible for all hardware and every operating system that powers our authorization and clearing and settlement systems for both credit and debit. We manage one of the most robust and mission-critical system environments in the industry, directly supporting 89% of Visa's revenue. From mainframe to modern platforms, our engineers ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of the systems that move money around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, and upgrading z / OS operating system and subsystems.
  • Working knowledge of SMP / E.
  • Working knowledge of z / OS tools and subsystems.
  • Basic understanding of major z / OS subsystems.
  • System and application monitoring knowledge.
  • Excellent problem determination skills.
  • Provide 24X7 production support of Visa operations and second level z / OS application and system support. Requires on-call rotational support for geographically dispersed data centers.
  • Knowledge of various ISV software tools.
  • Manage workload and escalate to Sr. Engineers and manager, as needed.
  • Work with other support, development, and user groups to manage requests from the perspective of infrastructure design and functionality.
  • Support user requirements for software functionality and features.
  • Work with vendors on software upgrades as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of documentation tools, such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power Point.
  • Ability to work with management and users from all levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • Assist in supporting application teams with problem determination.
  • Assist in supporting application teams with new functionality requests.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD on figuration of z / OS operating system and significant subsystems.
  • Experience with installation, maintaining, and implementation of z / OS and ISV software.
  • Strong problem determination skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience with storage replication functionality a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of z / OS tools and subsystems, including by not exclusive to, JES2, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, ASM, SMS & HCD.
  • Knowledge of various ISV software tools including by not exclusive to :
  • Broadcom CA (CA1, CA-ESP, CAVantage, Endevor, OPS / MVS, CAView, CADeliver, SYSVIEW)
  • BMC Compuware (Fileaid, Abendaid, Xpediter, Strobe)
  • Minimum of 3 z / OS (MVS) systems engineering or programming experience.
  • 5 or more years total Information Technology experience.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • College degree or equivalent.
  • Work Hours

    Varies upon the needs of the department.

    Travel Requirements

    This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

    Mental / Physical Requirements

    This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY : The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 117,700.00 to 170,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA / HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
