REPORTS TO

CORPORATE CONTROLLER

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

To support the CFO and Corporate Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance / Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining month end workpapers / reconciliations, the preparation and recording of journal entries, periodic A / P and A / R entries, and state and local tax filings when applicable for the branch(s) they are assigned to. The staff accountant will work with branch managers to analyze and improve understanding of financial statements. Ad-hoc branch specific and cross-company projects will be assigned periodically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage, review, depreciate and reconcile the branch’s fixed assets, including entries for any sale or other disposal of assets in accordance with GAAP and company policy under the direction of the Corporate Controller.
  • Approve credit limit overrides at supervisor’s discretion.
  • Support Accounts Payable Associate with day-to-day tasks for the branch, including invoice entry, vendor reconciliations, payment processing, recordkeeping and any required accruals.
  • Prepare and maintain, as necessary, schedules to support transactions and ledger balances.
  • Actively participate in month end close process, including accruals, trial balance reviews and necessary adjusting journal entries as assigned by Corporate Controller.
  • Assist the Corporate Accounting team with day-to-day processes, additional duties and projects as needed or assigned.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 25 pounds

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting internship, agricultural and production accounting and / or data processing experience.

Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook; QuickBooks or ERP experience.
