Job Description

Job Title : Supplier Process Engineer, Electronics

Position Description : Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Supplier Process Engineer, Electronics opportunity with our client located in Peachtree Corners, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our suppliers, design, manufacturing, and project teams to launch new products; implement performance, quality, capacity, and cost improvements
  • Own new products during pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch
  • Establish milestones and success criteria for responsible projects within our suppliers. Drive decisions and escalate key issues quickly maintaining stakeholder alignment
  • Select the right process and suppliers for the part, considering long term fit and total cost of ownership
  • Develop suppliers to excel in all KPIs including Supplier owned quality, capacity, and sub-tier management
  • Empower suppliers to own completion of part qualification deliverables : pFMEA, Special process validations, FAI and Cpk studies, DFx, Operational metrics, capacity and cost analysis
  • Own and drive to closure supplier variances from symptom through root cause analysis to corrective action, including succinct CAPA / SCAR documentation
  • Provide technical support for failure analysis of discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns. Lead investigations where appropriate
  • Lead / participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, streamlining of supply chain, and commodity strategy
  • Clearly communicate project status to key stakeholders
  • Understand proper level of documentation detail for tracking of actions and justification of decisions
  • Generate key metrics for the team and suppliers, and continually drive for timely achievement of those metrics

Job Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in electronics or electro-mechanics; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or related field in electronics or electro-mechanics
  • Experience in taking electronics devices or products from development to production stages and direct work with EMS contract manufacturers and component suppliers
  • Knowledge or experience in electronics manufacturing technologies such as SMT, AOI, ICT, FUT, cable assemblies
  • Ability to interpret detailed drawings and execute tolerance stack-ups for assemblies and part level
  • Strong technical skills with problem solving and driving corrective actions to closure
  • Understanding of project management, Agile, Six Sigma, Lean, and SPC is desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Medical Device, Automotive, or Aerospace experience is a plus
  • Ability to travel to suppliers (domestic and international) as needed : 25%
