Entry-Level Phlebotomist
As an Entry-Level Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in our Patient Service Center (PSC) by performing accurate and timely phlebotomy procedures. Your interactions with patients, clients, and colleagues will set the tone for a professional and supportive environment, and you will handle both forensic and clinical specimen collections following established practices and procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Welcome and greet clients with a friendly demeanor, ensuring a positive experience for all.
- Efficiently and accurately collect all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens in a timely manner.
- Conduct specimen collections, including venipuncture and other tests (such as urine or fecal), while clearly explaining the process to patients to alleviate their concerns.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials and contaminated sharps in accordance with safety regulations.
- Accurately complete requisitions and input patient and billing information into the computer, emphasizing attention to detail.
- Research and verify test / client information through the lab's computer systems.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and process specimens as required for testing.
- Prepare specimens for transport and maintain appropriate storage conditions, ensuring the integrity of each sample.
- Keep all required records and documentation organized and up-to-date.
- Assist with creating and maintaining a positive work environment by performing basic clerical tasks as needed.
- Submit timesheets and expense reports punctually and accurately.
- Demonstrate professionalism by adhering to grooming and dress codes at all times.
- Adapt effectively to changes in patient flow, utilizing time wisely.
- Maintaining clear and courteous communication with clients, patients, and co-workers to promote teamwork.
- Answer phones in a professional manner and provide helpful responses.
- Act independently while ensuring issues are communicated to supervisors for resolution.
- Contribute to a positive work climate by supporting fellow staff and participating in team efforts.
- Maintain a clean and safe facility, reporting any needed repairs or maintenance promptly.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying the supervisor of any shortages.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols.
- Operate in compliance with security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive health information.
- Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the Corporate Compliance Program and relevant policies.
