Location : Remote (with potential travel to Rwanda)

Commitment : Part-time, Volunteer (Board Level)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced board member to join our leadership team. This individual should possess a strong financial background to assist with business plan financial projections for our Rwanda project, as well as a solid understanding of HR, international law, and African diversity. The ideal candidate will help guide STAND International’s strategy while supporting the organization’s growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Expertise :
  • Lead the development and review of financial projections for the Rwanda project.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Work with the board and leadership to oversee the organization’s financial health.
  • HR and Legal Oversight :
  • Provide expertise on international HR practices, particularly in line with global standards and African contexts.
  • Advise on HR policies that promote diversity and cultural awareness.
  • Ensure legal compliance with international laws and regulations relevant to nonprofit and project operations.
  • Strategic Leadership :
  • Contribute to overall board decisions regarding STAND International’s strategy, operations, and partnerships.
  • Provide input on international partnership building, with a focus on sustainable development in Rwanda.

Qualifications

  • Proven financial expertise, preferably in business development, nonprofits, or startups.
  • HR experience with a deep understanding of international law and human resources.
  • International background with significant knowledge or experience working in Africa, particularly in Rwanda or surrounding regions.
  • Strong understanding of African cultural diversity and a passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in organizational practices.
  • Previous board or leadership experience preferred.
