Assistant Director of Nursing

North Platte Valley Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team. This role supports both our Emergency Room and Extended Care services, ensuring quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and a supportive environment for staff, residents, and patients.

Position Overview

The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing to oversee clinical operations, manage nursing staff, and coordinate patient care services across hospital and extended care settings. This position plays a key role in fostering teamwork, ensuring best practices, and supporting professional growth for nursing staff while maintaining high standards of patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

• Assist with management and supervision of nursing staff in both the Emergency Room and Extended Care.
• Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to promote professional development.
• Act as a resource and positive role model for clinical excellence and compassionate care.
• Serve as acting Director of Nursing in their absence.

Clinical & Administrative Support

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state/federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Support the coordination of patient care to promote safety, quality outcomes, and efficiency.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of nursing staff.
• Assist in developing staffing schedules, monitoring workloads, and maintaining appropriate coverage.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to resolve concerns and improve continuity of care.

Program & Quality Oversight

• Support performance improvement initiatives, audits, and quality assurance programs.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, implementation, and updates.
• Participate in care planning and resident/patient case conferences.
• Monitor infection control, patient safety, and risk management practices.

Patient & Family Engagement

• Foster strong communication between nursing staff, providers, patients, residents, and families.
• Advocate for patient/resident needs and ensure compassionate, individualized patient cenetered care.
• Participate in community and hospital events that strengthen patient/family relationships.

Qualifications

• Education: Current RN license in the State of Wyoming (or ability to obtain). Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience:
  
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in an acute care or extended care setting.
  • Prior supervisory/management experience strongly preferred.
  • ER and long-term care experience a plus.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS required (PALS preferred).
• Other: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
