Financial Analyst

Location : Detroit, MI | Hybrid

Pay Rate : $57.69 / hour | Full-Time Contract (Possible Extension)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Financial Analyst to support capital investment projects through advanced forecasting, financial modeling, and reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, strategic planning, and performance transparency for major initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Establish multi-year monthly expenditure and cash flow forecasts for all assigned projects.

Model capital investment and acquisition impacts, and manage the capital investment process.

Prepare financial statements, variance analyses, and project cost reports.

Consolidate reporting for major projects and align with other cost reporting formats.

Develop business plans, incorporate scope / cost changes into forecasts, and report to senior leadership.

Partner with field and project management teams to prepare budgets, forecasts, and accounting transactions.

Research and apply new accounting standards, ensuring proper policy implementation.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost management strategies.

Support a collaborative work environment, providing training and mentorship to less experienced team members.

May lead project teams, assign work, evaluate results, and support performance development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, or variance analysis.

Strong financial modeling and reporting skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to drive change and meet project goals.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency with SAP.

Prior experience with utility or energy-sector systems.

Familiarity with FERC gas training is a plus.
