Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a DC license or proof of pending status and at least two years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position based in the Operating Room of a hospital setting
  • Day shifts available : 3x12 hours (6 : 00-19 : 00 or 11 : 59-23 : 30)
  • Patient care includes general OR cases as well as bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedics, and urology
  • Specialized procedures performed include total joints, spine, craniotomy, free flaps, cyto reduction, bariatric, and ENT / OMF cases
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Weekend requirement is one shift per six-week schedule
  • Six on-call shifts per six-week schedule
  • Scrub color is ceil blue
  • Flu vaccine required for all staff
  • Responsibilities include circulating and assisting in advanced operating room cases
  • Required to complete orientation and modules prior to start, with average module time of 12 hours
  • Team-based environment with staff and traveler support
  • No RTO allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment and up to 7 days time off allowed during a 13 week contract
  • Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted
  • Manager interview is optional and may not be conducted
  • Dress code requires ceil blue scrubs

    • Requirements

  • Active DC RN license or proof of pending licensure required at time of consideration and must be in hand before start date
  • Minimum of two years recent OR RN experience required
  • BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Experience with general OR, bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedic, and urology procedures required
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers with appropriate experience
  • Two supervisor references required from the past two years
  • Return staff must have been separated for at least one year to be eligible
