Per Diem Physician Assistant - Neurosurgery

We seek a licensed Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) who excels in delivering high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care within our multidisciplinary teams.

As a vital member of the neurosurgery team, you will provide pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring comprehensive support for patients and their families while addressing physical, psychosocial, and functional needs.

Position Details

Schedule : As needed, with shifts from 10 : 00 a.m. to 6 : 30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Previous experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in neurosurgery is required, including significant operative responsibility and OR first assisting experience.

Education

Must be a graduate from an accredited NP or PA program.

Experience

Clinical working experience in the neurosurgery specialty is preferred. All advanced practice providers must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care : Provide comprehensive patient assessments, triage, and therapeutic management in collaboration with attending supervising physicians.
• Patient Education & Support : Equip patients and families with the knowledge about care options and available resources, ensuring emotional and psychosocial support.
• Information Management : Document all patient interactions as per hospital and regulatory requirements while safeguarding all forms of patient information.
• Quality Management : Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and commitment to patient care.
• Professional Development : Engage in continuous education projects and serve as a mentor to both peers and students while participating in research and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

Active PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License required, along with ACLS / BLS certification. Additional certifications may be needed depending on the position.
