Position Overview

This position is accountable for testing inspecting and reporting of various materials used on construction projects for state highway improvements within the district as well as providing engineering assistance to the Materials Section.

Essential Functions

• Ensures that materials used on highway and bridge construction and maintenance projects comply with applicable specifications.
• Inspects samples tests and reports on materials incorporated into highway and bridge construction projects.
• Provides technical assistance and develops solutions to engineering problems within the section.
• Assists with engineering responsibilities within the section.
• Reviews and completes material documentation in Construction and Materials Management System(CMMS) in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Analyzes processes within the section for recommending changes which would improve the existing procedures.
• Performs all duties in compliance with the departments safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
