• The Registered Nurse (RN) – Women's Services provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Women's Services unit, including obstetrics, labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care\n
• The RN utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards\n\nEssential Functions\n
• Provides direct patient care in the obstetrics, labor and delivery, postpartum, and nursery units\n
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans for mothers and infants\n
• Monitors fetal heart tones, vital signs, and patient status throughout labor and postpartum\n
• Administers medications, performs procedures, and assists physicians with exams and deliveries\n
• Educates patients and families on postpartum care, infant care, breastfeeding, and discharge instructions\n
• Documents all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly\n
• Participates in emergency response situations, including neonatal resuscitation and postpartum hemorrhage\n
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and facilitate discharge planning\n
• Maintains a safe and clean environment in compliance with infection control standards\n
• Participates in staff training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives\n\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities / Expectations\n
• Strong clinical knowledge in obstetric and neonatal care\n
• Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments\n
• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and fetal monitoring systems\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and family interactions\n
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to emergencies\n
• Knowledge of infection control practices and safety protocols\n
• Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and patient-centered care\nQualifications\n\nEducation\n
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required\n
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred\n\nLicense / Certification\n
• Current state RN license or compact state equivalent required\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) as required per facility policy\n
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as required per facility policy\n
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) as required per facility policy\n
• Fetal Monitoring Certification as required per facility policy\n
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required per facility policy\n\nExperience\n
• Minimum of six (6) months of obstetrical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred
