The Director of Nursing in the Surgery Department has 24-hour accountability for the management of the specified nursing units including planning, organizing and staffing the unit to provide quality care to the patients as well as quality service to the medical staff. Promotes the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospital.
You get full control of your team. You get to make all the decisions to build it. It’s a flat organization.
There are five departments with 45 people that directly and indirectly report to this person.
Responsibilities :
You will be an approachable servant leader with a positive, hands on leadership philosophy.

You will advance the patient experience agenda in the Surgery Department.
You will coach immediate subordinates and provide feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitate individual development plans; and document job performance.

You will facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices.
You will effectively build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals.
You will represent the organization in community outreach and partnerships.
You will participate in employee and patient rounding and identify and mentor potential future leaders.
You will participate in Physician Recruitment and Retention strategies.
You will assist in the establishment of issue resolution and accountability processes for providers and interact with providers on strategic and operational issues.
You will monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policies for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety.
You will be responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensuring the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
You will seek new program strategies and / or program enhancements which would expand patient services.
You will be responsible for the fiscal management of department; assuring proper utilization of organization’s financial resources. Develop and cost effectively manage the capital, salary, and supply budgets.
Justify variances and design corrective solutions proactively.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in nursing required - Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration preferred
5+ years of leadership experience in a hospital setting
3+ years of surgical services experience- OR, Pre / Post, PAT, SPD
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
Compensation and Benefits :
Salary of $120,000-$170,000 (depending on experience)
