Position Overview
As a Purchaser , you will perform purchasing and procurement responsibilities throughout the project life cycle, from material requisition through delivery. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing of materials and services to support construction and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for assigned projects.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, procurement documents, and supplier agreements.
- Perform commercial bid evaluations and coordinate technical reviews with project teams.
- Source and qualify suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and on-time delivery.
- Expedite supplier submittals and deliveries to support engineering and construction schedules.
- Compile and manage Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and analyze supplier proposals.
- Maintain project procurement status and material tracking reports.
- Communicate and resolve procurement issues with internal teams and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with Burns & McDonnell procurement policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Law, Construction Management, or related field; or equivalent experience.3–5 years of direct purchasing experience required.Experience with project procurement in the construction or utility sector preferred.Proficiency in Oracle Financials R12 and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.CPM or CPSM certification preferred.
