Overview
GNC Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands-on program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a store, drive for results, and develop and lead a team.

What You Do
- Work a fast track to management, receiving work assignments and training to prepare for promotion from SMIT to Store Manager.
- Lead, coach, and support your team to provide exceptional service in line with GNC values and policies.
- Collaborate with a Store Manager or District Manager to oversee daily store operations, including business performance and product management.
- Represent the GNC brand by offering expert product knowledge and promoting the Live Well message to customers.
- Actively engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion.
- Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and customer relationships (e.g., MYGNC Rewards).
- Aim to achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping other sales associates reach their potential.
- Build strong teams and demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, including giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
- Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counting, and deposits per GNC procedures.
- Attend community events to promote the organizations mission and initiatives.
Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager. At the end of 90 days, performance is evaluated to determine eligibility for promotion, considering factors such as performance, openings, and willingness to relocate if required.
Environmental Factors & Working Schedule
Stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting; lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally; push / pull up to 20 pounds.Climb ladders, reach and bend as needed.Work in temperatures ranging from 50C to 85C (stock room areas).Use a computer up to 60% of the day.SMITs are expected to work five 40-hour weeks with scheduling including nights and weekends as required by store location (mall / strip center, downtown, etc.).Specific shift requirements vary by store type and location; additional weekend and holiday work may be required.Benefits & Compensation
