Position Summary
This position serves as the strategic leader responsible for overseeing all data infrastructure, technology, processes and processes needed for the efficient flow and accessibility of high-quality analytics functions within Banner Plans and Networks (BPN) including the process for designing structured data outputs such as dashboards, scorecards and key performance indicators. This position will drive data-informed decision-making across the organization by transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights that improve outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and optimize financial performance. This leader will execute a comprehensive BPN specific analytics strategy aligned with BPN's organizational objectives. The role involves close collaboration with BPN clinical and business leaders, including participation on the BPN Executive Team meetings, to identify performance improvement opportunities and drive innovation in analytics supporting value-based care initiatives and population health management. Additionally, this leader will play a key role in modernizing the data architecture and supporting platform rationalization in collaboration with the leader of Data Platform Engineering. This position will lead a team of professionals, fostering a culture of data-driven excellence throughout the organization. This leader will also align to the BPN Business Unit Goals and MIPS measures.
Core Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare analytics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Demonstrated expertise in healthcare data analytics, particularly in value-based care models and population health management. Strong understanding of healthcare economics, risk adjustment methodologies, and quality measurement frameworks. Proven track record of translating complex data into actionable business insights that drive organizational performance. Experience building and leading high-performing analytics teams in complex healthcare environments. Proficiency with AWS cloud services ecosystem, particularly AWS data and analytics services (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, QuickSight). Hands-on experience with Databricks platform, including Delta Lake, Spark SQL, and MLflow for large-scale data processing and analytics. Expertise with ThoughtSpot's search and AI-driven analytics platform for business intelligence and data visualization. Experience architecting and implementing modern data solutions leveraging AWS, Databricks, and ThoughtSpot integration. Advanced knowledge of data engineering principles and ETL / ELT processes in cloud environments. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis within Databricks environments. Deep understanding of healthcare data structures, including claims, clinical, and operational datasets. Experience with healthcare data governance frameworks and data quality management. Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple complex analytics initiatives simultaneously. Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborative leadership style with proven ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries. Experience leading cloud migration initiatives and modernizing legacy data systems to cloud-based platforms. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security (HIPAA, etc.). Strategic thinking with ability to align analytics initiatives with organizational goals and objectives. Change management expertise to drive adoption of data-driven decision-making processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and experience integrating diverse healthcare data sources. Background in implementing machine learning models for healthcare applications using Databricks MLflow. Experience with real-time analytics and streaming data processing using AWS Kinesis or Databricks Structured Streaming. Familiarity with AWS Lake Formation for data lake governance and Databricks Unity Catalog for data discovery. Experience with ThoughtSpot's SpotIQ automated analytics. Knowledge of implementing self-service analytics platforms for clinical and business users. Background in healthcare payer operations, particularly in value-based care arrangements. Experience with healthcare risk adjustment models and quality measurement frameworks (HEDIS, STARS). Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration with IT, clinical, and business stakeholders. Experience mentoring and developing data science and analytics talent. Additional related education and / or experience preferred.
