Director Of Delivery

Alto Pharmacy is seeking a Director of Delivery to provide operational leadership for our last-mile and mail-based delivery services across multiple markets. This role will be accountable for developing and executing optimization strategies with carrier partners, ensuring the timely, accurate, and efficient distribution of critical medications. The role is pivotal in sustaining superior service standards while driving operational excellence and performance at scale. The Director will oversee a national and multi-site delivery and shipping operation, including managing external last mile delivery partners, including third-party courier services and national / regional mail carriers. You will play a key role in implementing delivery strategies, ensuring quality and compliant performance with state and federal regulations, and contributing to the promise of timeliness in Alto's service offering. You'll work closely with Pharmacy Operations leadership and collaborate with the Product & Technology and Legal & Compliance teams to execute on delivery initiatives.

  • Manage daily operations of courier and mail last mile delivery across the nation.
  • Develop and drive key performance indicators to ensure accurate, on-time deliveries, positive patient experience and continuous improvement.
  • Execute existing delivery strategies and provide daily and weekly input and formal report outs to senior leadership on performance and enhancements.
  • Assess delivery carrier and performance risks and opportunities and provide timely communication regarding such assessments.
  • Act as the lead communicator internally and externally regarding Alto's delivery needs.
  • Facilitate communication between external delivery partners and internal stakeholders such as Legal, Finance, and Pharmacy Operations.
  • Partner with and manage vendors, evaluate service excellence and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the launch of new delivery capabilities or markets.

A Bit About You

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in operations or delivery logistics, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing delivery operations, with knowledge of last-mile logistics and route optimization.
  • Self-motivated individual with the capacity to take full ownership of tasks from start to finish while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Strong understanding of operational metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, drive accountability, and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work, driving projects and tasks to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Strong sense of accountability for results, with a track record of delivering on commitments and following through on responsibilities.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and see them through to resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with delivery software tools, routing systems, and CRM platforms.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in a regulated healthcare, pharmacy, or digital health delivery environment.
  • Exposure to lean, six sigma, or other process improvement frameworks.
  • Experience managing third-party logistics partners.
  • Proficiency in logistics or workforce management platforms.
  • Additional Physical Job Requirements :

    Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal with monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, and reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions required to operate a computer that include the wrists, hands and fingers, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move light objects up to 20 pounds. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.

    Salary Range : $144,000 - 180,000

    Commission Eligible : No

    Travel : Yes - Required up to 15% of the time

    Location Requirement : Employment at Alto is limited to individuals residing in the following states : Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington (WA), and Wisconsin.

    Employment Authorization Requirement : Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. At this time, Alto is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
