Job Title : Controls Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer (Level 2) to design, program, and troubleshoot industrial control systems for a variety of automation projects. This role requires strong technical ability, the capacity to work independently on standard projects, and the confidence to support customers. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with PLC / HMI programming, electrical design, and industrial networking.
Responsibilities
- Design and troubleshoot electrical circuits (power and control) and control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs from platforms such as Allen-Bradley, GE, Automation Direct, and Siemens.
- Troubleshoot industrial networks, including Ethernet / IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and similar systems.
- Apply NEC codes, UL 508A standards, and general electrical design principles with minimal technical assistance.
- Support typical service calls and engineer standard automation projects independently.
- Work within established project budgets and timelines.
- Complete all required documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure project success and high customer satisfaction.
- Follow all company safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Adhere to quality control procedures and engineering standards throughout project execution.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external customers.
- Provide on-site support as needed to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and ensure system performance meets customer expectations.
- Offer technical guidance and support to junior engineers when appropriate.
- Contribute ideas to improve processes, workflows, and engineering standards.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in PLC / HMI programming and industrial control systems.Experience with platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, and others.Strong knowledge of electrical design and AutoCAD Electrical.Understanding of NEC codes and UL 508A standards.Excellent troubleshooting skills in control systems and industrial networks.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.With a bachelor's degree, 2+ years of relevant experience; without a bachelor's degree, 6+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record.Work Environment
Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM, offering a 4 / 10 schedule that allows for three days off. The role requires the ability to move throughout production and office environments, travel to customer sites (within an hour's range), and work in environments with noise, heat, or uneven terrain. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs during system evaluations or troubleshooting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00 / hr.
