Drainage Engineer Transportation Design (Tampa, Florida)

A growing transportation design team is seeking a Drainage Engineer with experience in stormwater management, hydrology / hydraulics, and water resources engineering. This role supports major roadway and infrastructure projects across Florida , working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.

What Youll Do

• Prepare drainage design calculations, reports, and construction plans in accordance with FDOT and local standards
• Perform hydrologic & hydraulic modeling using tools such as ICPR, HEC-RAS, HY-8, ASAD , and similar programs
• Design stormwater systems : detention / retention, culverts, pipes, conveyance networks
• Support permitting packages for local, state, and federal agencies (e.g., FDOT, FDEP, SWFWMD, SFWMD)
• Coordinate with roadway, utility, and environmental teams to ensure integrated project design
• Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
• Perform quality checks and work with senior staff for technical guidance and mentorship
• Conduct occasional field visits, data collection, and construction support as needed
