Conservation Program Manager

Overview

Conservation Program Manager at San José State University Research Foundation (SJSURF). The role focuses on leading multi-benefit water resource projects in the Monterey Bay Region, with emphasis on habitat restoration, flood protection, and climate change adaptation. The position sits within the Central Coast Wetlands Group (CCWG), an affiliate of Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Multi-benefit Water Resource Project planning and implementation : Collaborate with the Watershed Coordinator to develop and implement projects in an agriculturally dominated landscape in the Monterey Bay Region.
• Planning, Design and Permitting : Work with ecologists, engineers, and other experts to design projects for flood risk reduction, groundwater recharge, water conservation, and water quality improvement.
• Stakeholder Engagement : Build partnerships with agricultural landowners, growers, local organizations, agencies, and disadvantaged communities to integrate their needs into planning.
• Facilitate Land Acquisition : Coordinate with land acquisition partners on acquiring land from willing landowners, including appraisal oversight, easements, and fee title acquisitions.
• Project Implementation : Coordinate with agency partners to move from planning to construction, including securing funding and on-the-ground actions.

Reports to CCWG program director. The Conservation Program Manager supervises research associates, student research assistants, and interns.

Compensation range : $93,600–$114,400 annually, DOE / Q. Exempt, benefited.
