American Bridge Co-Op / Internship Program Opportunity  Overview American Bridge Company is seeking motivated and driven students to join our Co-Op / Internship Program .

This program is designed to give students comprehensive, hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, with structured rotations through Engineering, Estimating, and Field Operations .

Each rotation builds technical skills, industry knowledge, and leadership potential—serving as a pipeline to future full-time opportunities with American Bridge.

Our projects span bridges, marine construction, and other specialty heavy civil work across the United States.

Students will gain exposure to real-world construction operations, estimating practices, and engineering design, while learning from experienced professionals in each department.

Sample Responsibilities (may vary by rotation) Field Operations Assist with daily jobsite oversight and construction activities Perform quantity tracking, field measurements, and productivity reporting Support layout, surveying, and quality control checks Participate in safety planning and project meetings Engineering Gain exposure to bridge, marine, and structural construction methods Assist with planning and technical design tasks Create and update AutoCAD drawings and 3D lift plans Perform research, calculations, and drafting for temporary works design and construction stage analysis support Estimating Support preparation of bids and cost proposals Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings Analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals Organize bid documents and maintain cost databases What You’ll Gain Technical Skills :

  • Exposure to construction software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, SAP2000, etc.) Industry Knowledge : Learn means, methods, and terminology of heavy civil construction Professional Development : Build communication, problem-solving, and project management skills Career Pathway : Strong foundation for an entry-level Field Engineer role or other positions within American Bridge Program Structure Duration : 12–16 weeks per semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) Locations : Opportunities available at headquarters for Engineering and Estimating (Coraopolis, PA) and project sites nationwide Rotation Path : Students ideally complete one rotation each in Engineering, Estimating, and Field Operations (order may vary based on business needs) Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management,  or a related field Strong academic performance and interest in heavy civil construction Willingness to travel and adapt to dynamic project environments Team-oriented, detail-focused, and eager to learn About American Bridge American Bridge is a leading specialty heavy civil contractor , with a history of building iconic structures for over a century.
