Police Investigative Service Officer I positions process, review and analyze misdemeanor arrest reports and citations; gather and obtain statements by witnesses and prepare identification composites; check criminal records; assist with reports of misdemeanors when there are no immediate suspects; respond to requests for non-hazardous police services; develop leads through the use of computer research, witnesses statements and police documents related to the case; assist in transporting property or personnel; protect crime scenes from bystanders and assist with collecting crime scene evidence; maintain logs, prepare statistical data and perform data entry and retrieval; direct traffic; issue parking and / or misdemeanor citations; provide information to the public relative to community alerts, crime prevention and referral information to appropriate agencies; and perform other duties as assigned.
Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
Police Investigative Service Officer I employees may be required to work night shifts for which they may receive 5% additional pay.

Screening Process
