Job Overview:

The Medical Assistant provides essential support to healthcare professionals by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. This role involves assisting with patient care, managing medical records, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the medical office or clinic.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties:
  • Patient Care: Assist with patient examinations, including taking medical histories, measuring vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Medical Procedures: Perform routine clinical procedures such as assisting with injections and preparing specimens for laboratory tests.
  • Patient Assistance: Help patients with mobility issues, and provide support during procedures and treatments.
  • Infection Control: Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
Administrative Duties:
  • Appointment Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments, manage calendars for healthcare providers, and coordinate referrals and follow-up visits.
  • Medical Records: Maintain and update patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, addressing patient inquiries and concerns professionally.
General Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Management: Prepare and sterilize medical equipment, ensuring that all tools and instruments are clean and in good working order.
  • Documentation: Ensure all patient interactions and procedures are documented accurately and in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a medical assisting role is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical and administrative skills.
    • Proficiency in using medical office software and EHR systems.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures.
Work Environment:
  • Physical Demands: The role involves standing, walking, and occasional lifting of patients or equipment. It may require working in various healthcare settings such as physician's offices or ambulatory outpatient surgical centers.
  • Work Hours: Typically involves standard office hours, with potential for occasional extended hours based on patient needs and departmental requirements.
