Physical Therapist

Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain and prevent disability.

• DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties :

• Reviews physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine therapy treatment required. Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggests revisions in treatment program and integrates physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's healthcare.
• Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Documents treatment program with anticipated goals in EPIC.
• Supervises patient treatment / programs of the Physical Therapy Assistants and Technicians.
• Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function. Instructs, motivates and assists patient to perform various physical activities.
• Evaluates, fits, adjusts and instructs in use of assistive devices such as crutches, canes and prostheses or other orthotic devises.
• Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Records treatments, response and progress in patient's chart or enters information into the computer. Thoroughly completes all required documentation legibly, accurately and on time.
• Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home
• Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to identify needs and continued services once discharged from current level of care.
• EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement :

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy

• Maintains active licensure in the State of Kentucky as a Physical Therapist.
• Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
