The School-Based Clinician will perform a range of clinical services related to the assessment, care, and treatment of children and youth experiencing emotional or behavioral issues, in the school setting on a school-year calendar schedule (10 months per year consistent with the school calendar). The School-Based Clinician is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.
Required Education and Experience
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or counseling or closely related field
- Licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Valid driver's license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance
Preferred Education and Experience

Provide direct clinical services for intake, screening, and referral servicesParticipate in the client's ongoing assessments, diagnosis and collateral treatment : mental health issues, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse co-occurring disordersDeliver evidenced based counseling that provides effective medically necessary treatment of mental and behavioral conditions in individuals and familiesConduct comprehensive needs assessment, risk assessment, and full psychosocial history when indicatedWork with each client and family (if appropriate) to develop a targeted, individualized plan of care outlining specific goals and objectivesMonitor the need for continuation of services and / or change in level of intensity of servicesUtilize PCOMS (Partners for Change Outcome Management System) in assessments and clinical treatment episodesCollaborate with the local outpatient office and other service providers as needed to identify an appropriate transition plan, coordinate appropriate follow up services, and assist client in connecting to beneficial community resources upon transition or dischargeEstablish Safety and Aftercare / Transition Plan for summer months to include family members and / or significant others when applicableDeliver services primarily in school setting or where necessary to meet client needsDocument all clinical work and maintain the client's electronic health record according to New Vista policies and procedureManage situations involving client risk and provide clinical crisis services to de-escalate crisis situations and promote stabilityManage a caseload that may include diverse populations with a variety of clinical needsParticipate in regular meetings with Clinic Manager and treatment teamProvide referrals regarding psychiatric evaluations and medication management as well as other adjunct service such as Crisis Intervention / Stabilization, hospitalization, or residential servicesWhile we welcome all to apply, there are some position specific background stipulations that must be met to comply with various regulatory and contractual requirements.
