Position Title : Histotechnologist / Histotechnician III

Location : Pompano Beach, FL

Shift / Time Zone :

🕔 5 : 00 AM – 1 : 30 PM OR 8 : 00 PM – 4 : 30 AM (Two Shifts Available)

Position Summary :

The Histotechnologist performs both routine and advanced histology procedures to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. This role requires in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, adherence to quality control standards, and the ability to guide and train junior staff.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Accession and label all tissue samples accurately.
  • Process, embed, and section tissue specimens according to laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare slides for Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining.
  • Perform coverslipping (manual or automated) of stained slides.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions for special stain procedures; obtain and validate tissue controls.
  • Perform all special stain techniques independently.
  • Assist with Immunohistochemistry (IHC) preparation, including reagent preparation, tissue validation, and testing (if applicable).
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests, quality control, and maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of histology equipment; troubleshoot minor technical issues.
  • File finished slides and blocks; ensure organized and accessible storage.
  • Train and mentor Histotechnicians, students, and lab aides as needed.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality and safety standards in compliance with CLIA , CAP , and corporate policies .
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    • Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or Associate Degree (AS) in a related field.
  • Certification : ASCP (HT) certification required.
  • Experience :

    • Previous histotechnology experience required.
