GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Trader in Investment Operations is responsible for trade execution, settlements, reconciliations, trade support to advisors / portfolio managers and other operations team initiatives. This role provides tactical perspectives to help ensure that the Investment Operations team efficiently meets the trading needs of the firm. Acts as a point of contact to service providers whose applications serve critical functions to support the investment process needs of the entire firm. In addition, the Trader partners with the Senior Traders and Trading Team Manager on a varied and diverse set of tasks for both short and long-term goals.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute, allocate, and reconcile trades in a timely manner
- Process paperwork for trade order execution and trade settlement
- Maintain and rebalance portfolios across different strategies
- Work with firm portfolio managers in creating trades across various models and strategies and invest / raise cash as needed
- Support trading requests from advisors and portfolio managers
- Review security transactions
- Liaise with operations to resolve any critical / complex problems related to specific trading transactions or processes
- Deal with complex issues utilizing appropriate channels and resources
- Support service requests ensuring compliance and risk mitigation practices are followed
- Identify, communicate, and monitor discrepancies and workflow issues between the trading and accounting systems
- Update and maintain reports daily, weekly and monthly to monitor model and strategy accounts
- Produce ad hoc reports for traders and portfolio managers
- Administers moderately complex operation tasks
- Ensure trade workflow is operating with efficiency, quality, and accuracy
- Reconcile accounts versus custodial positions daily before market open
EXPERIENCE / CREDENTIALS
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field1 – 2 years of experience in trade desk and securities operations is preferredDemonstrated proficiency with portfolio trading systems is preferred : Tamarac, Flyer Co-PilotExperience in general business applications : Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRMCOMPETENCIES
