Department Overview

The Substation Engineering team is responsible for overseeing project engineering and design work that is executed for PG&E substations. The team is responsible for the following :

• Transmission Substation engineering and design
• Distribution Substation engineering and design
• Technical assistance on feasibility studies
• Technical coordination with Transmission Line Engineering and design
• Technical consultation (project options)
• Project scope, detailed estimates, material lists
• Equipment specifications
• Construction support
• Oversight to engineering contractors
• Other activities as needed

Position Summary

The Supervisor of Substation Engineering & Design will lead a team of Sr. Consulting, Senior and Journey Project Engineers, Senior Design Engineers, Design Engineers, and Design Drafters to deliver quality design products for electric substations in all regions on time and cost efficiently. S / he will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Project Management team to build a balanced engineering plan to ensure project scope, schedule and cost requirements are met. In addition, s / he will be responsible for developing, tracking and communicating key performance metrics such as Safety, Project Execution (design quality), Work Plan Achievement (financial project performance), Work Plan Schedule Achievement (meeting project milestones). S / he will lead his / her team in adoption and proficiency of new technologies to better support project success.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is :

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)            $140,000.00

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)        $189,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $238,000.00
