This position works directly to coordinates and supervises all activities of the Forensic Nurse Program. This includes recruitment and orientation of applicants, implementation and evaluation of the program by improving the quality of care received by victims of violent crimes through direct and indirect patient care. The coordinator provides planning, organization, staffing, direction and coordination of the scope of services originating from the forensic nurse program.
What the Nurse Coordinator - Sexual Assault will do :
Responsible for the development, coordination and evaluation of educational activities related to the forensic program.Develops and facilitates annual competencies for forensic nurses.In the absence of a forensic nurse the coordinator may be required to complete forensic exams.Collects statistics related to forensic patient’s and conducts regular chart audits as required by state regulations.Serves as a role model in patient care areas and provides a high level of clinical expertise specifically regarding victims requiring forensic careMinimum Qualifications :
Graduate from school of nursing with current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.Preferred : Bachelor’s degree preferred.Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.Successful completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training.BLS Healthcare Provider.At least 3 years of experience functioning in an Emergency Department or Critical Care setting.Preferred : At least 1 year of experience functioning in a setting as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.Our Commitment
