An entry level Process Engineer is responsible for learning basic process technologies, understanding and using design tools, and executing process designs for assigned proposals and projects. The Process Engineer is expected to work with supervision to carry out the design philosophy expressed in the customer's specifications and Clean Technology Engineering (CTE) environmental and design standards. A Process Engineer will work closely with their supervisors and other engineers on various clean tech projects and proposals. Attention to detail, quality work and ecological diligence are required to provide designs that are competitive, reliable, and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the process engineering training classes and progress on the process engineer training checklist.
- Use basic design skills to support the clean and efficient design of projects or proposals.
- Develop familiarity with CTE organization, environmental values and project execution process. This includes a basic understanding of CTE's Marketing and Project structures, product offerings and internal resources.
- Establish an understanding of environmental regulation within a plant and methods of mitigating greater environmental impact.
- Participate in the startup, demonstration, and troubleshooting of new or modified plants to develop plant operating expertise.
- Foster sound knowledge of safe and responsible operating practices within a plant.
- Work with supervisors to review engineering design documents and vendor data.
- Assist in the preparation of process design packages and other proposals.
- Understand essential PFD's and P&ID's for various processes. A Process Engineer should be able to prepare basic process diagrams and heat and materials balances.
- Develop good filing practices for the process calculations and correspondence.
- Attend appropriate technical conferences and / or training as assigned.
- Uphold core values of safety, respect for people, ethics and compliance and environmental leadership.
Key Knowledge Skills and Abilities
4-year Chemical Engineering degree with 0-2 years of experience.Knowledge of a process simulator (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.) and MS Office products is required.Strong leadership and communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Strong desire to build a cleaner world.Flexibility and interest in world-wide travel.Demonstrated capability to work well within a team atmosphere is preferred.Additional Information
Occasional (10%) world-wide travel is expected. Some trips may be of extended duration. This will increase in future years.
