IU Health Methodist Hospital is a regional healthcare leader with 1,000 beds and over 130 ICU beds. It is the largest trauma center in Indianapolis and a highly subspecialized center for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, lung transplantation, and neurocritical care. The hospital is part of the IU Health Adult Academic Health Center, and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the top hospital in the state of Indiana. Construction for a new downtown hospital and campus is underway, opening in late 2027, featuring three 16-story towers with 864 beds. IU School of Medicine is also constructing a medical education and research building east of the new hospital.
