With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. The Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH) Sleep/EEG Center is an 8 bed lab accredited member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Sleep Disorders affect more than 70 million Americans. At BJWCH, we provide excellent patient care and education. Overnight sleep testing is performed in a quiet, dark and safe environment with a focus on service excellence and technical quality by Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, and assessment-related responsibilities within the Sleep Lab department. Ensure quality clinical outcomes in sleep testing procedures performed throughout the Sleep Lab department, and assistance in education and competency of PSG technician trainees. Able to accurately and efficiently complete test analysis (scoring). Responsibilities Applies electrodes and sensors to patient. Prepares, calibrates, and maintains equipment. Performs positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fittings. Performs sleep studies, initiates and maintains various modes of therapy. Recognizes and manages various respiratory conditions. Scores sleep and wake stages, scores clinical events. Generates reports and transfers data to the appropriate media.
