Description :
The Clienttion Therapist is an ARRT Registered Therapist.
The Therapist is responsible for the administration of radiation therapy as prescribed by the Clienttion Oncologist.
Interaction with a variety of people is essential, including patients, physicians, nurses, and co-workers.
Good interpersonal communication skills are required.
This position involves the care of all age groups, from newborns through geriatrics.
Helping ease patients’ fear and apprehension about radiation therapy is a critical function.
The Therapist must set up patients properly for the accurate delivery of radiation treatment.
It is important to explain to patients what to expect during treatment.
Patients should be informed about how they can help ensure treatment accuracy.
Daily warm-up of the treatment machine is the Therapist's responsibility.
Any variations from parameters set by the physicist must be reported to the Senior Therapist.
Checking the simulator for proper operation is crucial.
Problems that interfere with proper operation should be reported to the Chief Clienttion Therapist.
All checks performed must be entered on the simulator warm-up log.
Proper positioning of patients for the simulation of the treatment area is necessary using immobilization devices as needed.
Patients must be informed about what to expect during simulation.
Creating acceptable radiographs for simulation is required.
Tattooing the patient’s treatment area safely is to be done when applicable.
Photographic documentation of the patient’s treatment area and face should be added to the patient’s chart.
Maintaining audio and visual contact with patients at all times is essential.
Scheduling patients for daily treatment is a critical responsibility.
Maintaining the patient’s marks during the course of treatment is necessary.
Adverse reactions that may occur during treatment must be explained to the patient.
Notify the RN or Clienttion Oncologist of any adverse reactions when necessary.
The Clienttion Oncologist should see each patient at least once a week during the treatment course.
A weekly weight check must be verified.
Portal localization films should be performed once a week or as prescribed.
Weekly chart checks are required to ensure prescriptions are followed.
It is important to confirm that all additions are correct, that photos are placed in the chart, and that necessary documents are signed and included.
Keeping treatment and simulation rooms neat, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies is essential.
Informing the Chief Clienttion Therapist of items that need to be ordered is required.
Participation in performance improvement activities is expected.
Effective communication with physicians, nurses, patients, and co-workers is necessary.
Assistance with transporting patients to the department may be required.
Attending all required in-service programs is essential for the role.
