What You'll Do
In your first 8-12 weeks, you'll have one focus : Training. You'll learn multiple systems, protocols, and processes, pass exams, and earn certifications.
You won't do it alone. Your trainer / mentor will guide you in learning the many components of 9-1-1 calltaking, including proper techniques for communicating with callers during highly emotional and stressful emergencies. And, you'll earn pay increases for training milestones!
Once you are fully qualified as a Certified Calltaker , responsibilities will include :
The schedule for Calltakers is unique.
You'll be assigned to day (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) or night (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) shift based on where there is an opening. Your training shift may differ from the shift you're assigned once you're a certified Calltaker .
Regardless of shift, you'll work 3 days one week and 4 the next (with eight hours of overtime pay!)
