A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR FACILITIES GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER

As the Facilities Grounds Maintenance Worker, you are happy you have a physically active job with dynamic and varied days . You pride yourself on precisely maintaining Port facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment through continuous improvement. You love that you get to work independently while being a part of an excellent eight-person Facilities team.

You are happy to perform a full range of routine groundskeeping duties in all weather conditions , meticulously picking up refuse and debris, sweeping sidewalks, and ensuring our lawns are perfectly cared for. You skillfully trim and maintain trees, shrubs, and other landscaping plants. Your expertise extends to the repair and maintenance of irrigation systems , where you ensure proper water distribution by adjusting water timing.

You safely operate a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles , from landscaping tools and small hand tools to pressure washers, zero-turn and ride-behind lawnmowers, and weed eaters, always adhering to safety protocols. With a keen eye, you inspect fence lines for any damage, holes, or overgrown vegetation, contributing to the security of our facilities. You are proactive in reporting any issues with Port facilities or services using the Port's maintenance management software system, and you enjoy recommending improvements to grounds maintenance methods and processes to increase efficiencies and quality of service.

Presenting a professional, clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance in your Port-provided uniform, you consistently provide outstanding, friendly customer service to all Port customers and employees. This role offers new opportunities each day to support the Port's mission, and you love it!

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TEAM

• 1+ year of experience in groundskeeping or a related field.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Intermediate-level computer skills.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and pass an annual respirator fit test.

YOUR WORK SCHEDULE

Your initial schedule will be Monday-Friday, 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm. A 4 / 10s schedule could be an option after being fully trained and based on mutual agreement with your supervisor.
