Overview
Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI serves the campus population by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. MDPR (Marketing, Design & Public Relations) supports ASIs internal marketing needs and campus / community marketing services. This position is hybrid eligible and requires 15-20 hours per week; shifts are based on organizational needs.
Position Definition
Under general supervision from the Communications Manager, the Social Media Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Social Media and Marketing Assistants (SMMA). The supervisor leads team meetings, approves creative content, ensures tasks are completed efficiently, and supports strategy implementation and team guidance to maintain a cohesive social media presence for ASI.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day duties of the Social Media and Marketing Assistants
- Hosts weekly one-on-one meetings with SMMAs
- Leads content calendar meetings
- Assigns, schedules, and approves social media posts for distribution
- Assists with recruitment, onboarding, training, development, scheduling, and time and attendance of the Social Media & Marketing Assistants
- Creates diverse and engaging written, graphic, and video content for social media that reflects ASIs purpose, vision, mission, and values
- Oversees and is accountable for performance and strategic execution of the social media team
- Leads Social Media Team meetings and prepares meeting agendas
- Films, edits, and captions videos for social media (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikTok)
- Creates accessible content for various digital platforms
- Collaborates with Social Media team and stakeholders to create campaigns
- Collaborates with MDPR on marketing projects
- Uses analytics tools to gauge campaign success and prepares reports
- Creates content that promotes audience interaction and drives traffic to ASI websites
- Writes and edits copy for written communications used by the social media team
- Employs marketing analytics techniques to gather data
- Updates passwords on social media accounts as needed
- Attends on-campus events and provides live social media coverage
- Upholds ASI writing style guidelines and performs fact-checking
- Assists in developing and administering social media campaign strategies
- Works with internal and external partners on content collaboration
- Hosts presentations about ASIs Social Media Team offerings and outcomes
- Provides administrative support and performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
6 months of leadership or oversight experience requiredOne year of social media videography and video editing requiredExperience using Canva, Adobe Spark, or other graphic design software requiredBasic usage of business accounts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Hootsuite preferredExperience in promotions, marketing, and / or public relations preferredExperience with LinkTree is a plusExperience with AP style writing preferredExperience using Google Analytics is a plusSelf-motivated with strong organization and critical thinking skillsDemonstrated creative ability and clear written and verbal communicationAbility to operate a computer and use word processing, spreadsheets, and related applicationsDesire to learn about marketing, advertising, and corporate communicationsAbility to follow routine instructions and work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to manage time in a deadline-driven environmentStrong customer-oriented service and ability to work with a diverse student populationPosition Sensitivity

Work Environment
Standard office environment with typical responsibilities; may require sitting, standing, speaking, and keyboard use. Ability to walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 45 pounds as needed.
