Job Summary:

Manage the daily operations of the two Patagonia stores at Vail Resort. Serve as a brand ambassador for Patagonia, as well as Vail Resorts - role model and administer company policies, guidelines, core values, and competencies at all times. You will recruit, coordinate, motivate and lead a team in the two Patagonia retail stores. You maintain your stores as a hub for environmental activism, sport and positive vibes. You act as an ambassador for Patagonia in your business community. You positively network across stores and channels while thinking of ways to support the broader success of retail. You ensure that our customer-service experience is best-in-class: consistent, authentic, engaging and aligned with Patagonia’s core values. You lead by example and inspire your team to live Patagonia’s mission, both in the store and in the community. As the Store Manager, you are ultimately responsible for all aspects of the stores. You act as an entrepreneur for your stores and use Patagonia’s mission and core values as your compass. You consider the long-term business trajectory of your store and leverage your team to meet the short-term needs of that vision. You are an accessible, transparent, and supportive leader. You recruit and hire people who are passionate about the planet. You hire with a focus on diversity and include staff who represent the community where your stores are located.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $58,461.98 - $72,000.00 + annual bonus
  • Employment Type: Year Round
  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age
  • Housing Availability: No

Job Responsibilities:

YOU ARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST

  • You inspire and facilitate staff conversation, innovation, and education about environmental issues.
  • By hosting events, using social media and marketing tools, and elevating campaigns, you connect your community to important environmental and social issues.
  • You engage, elevate and partner with grassroots nonprofit organizations through retail grants and other partnerships, including events, product donations and activism activities.
  • You operate an environmentally responsible business by recycling, conserving energy and using alternative modes of transportation.

YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT BOUND BY CONVENTION

  • You instill in your employees the importance of customer service and that the retail experience is where the brand comes to life.
  • You train and empower staff to make decisions aligned with Patagonia’s values and act generously in all customer matters.
  • You foster a seamless customer experience by making every effort to find merchandise across Patagonia’s sales channels.

  • You have a keen eye for the look and feel of your store and know that powerful visual merchandising, good habits, store cleanliness and maintenance all support a strong business.

  • You reward staff with responsibility and create a team environment in which folks feel supported.
  • Your staff never have to guess how they’re doing since you provide ongoing feedback, coaching, training and acknowledgment.

  • You maintain a safe and secure environment for your team and customers and resolve any concerns quickly.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven service experience and thriving when managing a team-based atmosphere
  • Passionate about communities, the environment, and caring for others
  • Experience successfully leading in an atmosphere with ambiguity, learning on the fly, demonstrating sound judgment, and solving problems creatively
  • History of building and maintaining relationships with ease and desires to put the customer at the center of everything they do
  • Experience managing a team of people and a passion for growing and developing employees.
  • Demonstrates highly developed emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls and manage all operations in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Flexible amidst competing priorities and adaptable to the fast-paced environment of a retail store while rallying the team with positivity.
  • Interest and aptitude for strategic business planning that responds to a specific community.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Business area training or education preferred
  • 1-3 years of retail supervisor experience; ski industry preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment, multitask and manage multiple customers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English

The expected pay range is $58,461.98 - $72,000.00 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
