Job Overview

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic is to repair machinery or mechanical equipment.

Work Model : Onsite

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions :

• Examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
• Dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
• Replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock.
• Ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs.
• Preparing written specification for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
• Reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation.
• Replaces gauges and tightens and chalks leaky fittings, using wrenches, hammers, and chalking tools.
• Cleans carbon deposits, pitch, and grease from fans, vents and ducts, using scrapers, hammer, and compressed air or steam.
• Use portable radios to communicate with supervisors, and service call desk.
• Determines materials needed for repair work and prepares requisition.
• Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
• Install, maintain, and repair boiler systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose boiler malfunctions.
• Monitor and control gauges, meters, and other instruments related to boiler operations.
• Adjust controls and settings to optimize boiler performance.
• Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.
