POSITION TITLE : Landscape Maintenance Foreman
STATUS : Full-Time
FLSA CLASSIFICATION : Non-exempt
REPORTS TO : Grounds Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Landscape Maintenance Foreman is responsible to the Campus Grounds Supervisor for general
campus landscaping, lawn care, seasonal maintenance needs and the coordination of resources within the
department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Maintain campus landscapes - mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, spraying, etc.
2. Maintaining campus woodline areas with attention to remove undesired underbrush and invasive vines.
3. Maintain and repair landscape structures around campus.
4. Perform / oversee weekly and seasonal maintenance on department equipment, coordinating with the Maintenance & Operations, as necessary.
5. Train, manage, and motivate student labor in all work practices and safety matters, coordinating student assignments as needed for department priorities.
6. Utilize the electronic work request and preventive maintenance systems by creating new requests as needed, assigning requests, checking for assigned requests, completing assignments, and logging work completed with all appropriate information.
7. Assist in maintaining campus trails by clearing fallen trees, cutting back foliage, re-cutting and dragging trails, repairing damaged areas for safety.
8. Assist as needed in maintaining turf and out-of-bound areas of the athletic fields.
9. Assist with regular repairs of areas around campus and athletic fields in response to stormwater conditions and improve stormwater runoff with attention to clearing catch basins and identifying areas for improvements.
10. Assist in coordinating and motivating groundskeepers in the maintenance of campus landscape priorities.
11. Responsible for safely operating all equipment, which may include tractor, backhoe, and other related equipment.
12. Ensure that hardscapes, parking lots, and athletic surfaces are blown off and clear of debris, helping to specifically ensure that the campus front-door areas remain looking neat and clear.
13. Ensure that the Grounds shop work area remains clean and orderly at all times.
14. Ensure that work sites are kept in a safe and orderly manner and that proper personal protection equipment and safety procedures are followed.
15. Respond to campus seasonal needs, such as leaf, debris, and winter clearing needs, as well as be on call for safety and emergency response efforts in the event of storms throughout the year, particularly winter storms.
16. Develop a broader understanding of turf and plant health issues watching for long term care issues as they relate to campus wide issues (i.e. diseases, erosion, pests, etc.).
17. Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

This job is physically demanding and requires : Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, carrying,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling,
operating, proper body mechanics, mechanical rolling accommodation; environmental conditions :
wet, humid, hot, cold, noise, and vibration. Must be able to safely work in potentially hazardous
situations / environments involving power equipment, chemicals, solvents, vapors, heights, ladders,
platforms; have sufficient hearing to work safely and cooperatively.
