Job Title : Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process materials according to work order specifications. The role requires maintaining processing equipment in a safe and clean condition, as well as ensuring the processing area remains orderly. Complete all required information entry accurately and perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect, and verify products before processing.
  • Set up equipment properly and safely to run materials according to setup note specifications.
  • Process setup notes according to work order specifications.
  • Verify that products meet setup note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements.
  • Communicate with sales representatives regarding changes or clarifications to orders.
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Enter and delete material identification tags per written instructions.
  • Assist in packaging materials per written work instructions and work orders.
  • Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements accurately.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming materials.
  • Provide feedback regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Complete responsibilities safely and train others when required.
  • Engage in activities related to lean and quality improvement.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Certified material handler.
  • 2+ years of saw operation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Inventory control skills.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.
  • Experience with forklifts.
  • Use of handheld measuring tools.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience working with saws such as Waterjet, Bandsaw, Drill Press, CNC, etc.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is primarily within a warehouse and production setting. You'll handle equipment and materials in a manufacturing or distribution environment, requiring a hands-on approach and attention to detail.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.20 - $22.20 / hr.
