Due to continued growth, Boswell has a rare career growth opportunity for an experienced Site Civil Engineer with Geotechnical experience based at either our South Hackensack or Chester, NJ office(s)!

We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated Site Civil Engineer with a P.E. license and 7-10 years of experience to grow with our Team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design, development, and management of a wide range of land development projects. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong project management abilities, and proven experience in navigating the public hearing and approval process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Design and Management : Lead the design and preparation of civil engineering plans, including site layouts, grading, utility systems, stormwater management, and erosion control; Manage projects from conception through to completion, ensuring all work adheres to local, state, and federal regulations
  • Regulatory Compliance and Permitting : Conduct due diligence, feasibility studies, and prepare technical reports for submittal to regulatory agencies; Secure necessary permits and approvals for land development projects
  • Public Hearings and Presentations : Represent the company and clients at public hearings , planning board meetings, and other governmental forums; Effectively present project plans, respond to questions, and negotiate with stakeholders to secure project approvals
  • Construction Support : Provide construction administration and support, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and performing site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Team Collaboration : Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including architects, landscape architects, planners, and environmental specialists. Mentor junior staff and oversee the work of engineering technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience : A minimum of 6+ years of professional civil engineering experience, with a focus on land development and site design
  • Licensure : Must be either a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in New Jersey (NJ) or a licensed EIT ready to sit for NJ PE license asap
  • Skills : Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proven track record of successful project management and execution

    Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering presentations at public hearings and

    In-depth knowledge of zoning, land use, and environmental regulations

    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Attributes

  • Municipal Engineering experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with specific regional or local regulations relevant to our projects (municipal zoning, land use code)
  • Experience with a variety of project types, such as residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and institutional campuses
  • Experience with athletic field and park design a plus
  • Geotechnical experience is a plus
  • Physical Requirements

    Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain on construction sites
