ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of department Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians, as well as temporary workforce performing those functions as necessary. Responsibilities include :
Interviewing, hiring, and training department resources
Planning, assigning, and directing workProvide meaningful and timely feedback through employee performance appraisals, acknowledgement / rewarding and disciplinary actionsEnsuring that direct reports' have the tools and equipment necessary to support their job functionsEnsuring that direct reports' are adequately trained to perform the operations to which they have been assigned and document training activitiesAddressing complaints and resolving problemsMonitor employees' compliance to the attendance policy; review, edit, and approve timecard within a pay period to ensure employees' are paid for time worked, including paid time off (PTO) eventsReview and approve or deny paid time off (PTO) requests based on staffing requirements.Monitor employees' overtime and acting when appropriate to maintain compliance to / RBA Code of Conduct and Jabil's overtime policyTake appropriate action when performance expectations are not metDrive individuals and the team to continuously improve key operational metrics and achieve organizational goalsActs as a change agent and participant in continuous improvement activities towards customer focus, process planning and improvement, and employee empowermentPlans, promotes, and participates in manufacturing support problem solving activities in meeting customer demandsServe as an escalation path to clarify and mediate discussions relative to interpreting quality standardsMaintains and reviews Visual AidsMaintains Control Plans and reviews Process FMEAsPerforms disposition of product MRB (Material Review Board), NCR (Nonconformance Reports), and QN (Quality Notification) eventsDevelops and maintains production documentation (i.e., purges, quality alerts, special instructions, deviations, risk assessments, etc...)Participates in AQP (Advanced Quality Planning) and PLCM (Product Lifecycle Management) activitiesDevelops protocols (process qualification, engineering study, etc...) and resulting summary reportsPerforms reporting and analysis of capability studies on critical processesPerforms required training to employees supporting production or qualification eventsConducts routine review and maintenance of documentationServes as primary owner for the site's Supplier Interactions, Audits, (Customer, or Internal), and corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)Supports continuous improvement by participating in daily CAC and (leading and / or contributing to) weekly QIC meetingsPerforms reporting and trend analysis of defects occurring internally, at the customer, and supplierPerforms routine production line walks (GEMBAs) and manufacturing engagementServes as liaison between Jabil and suppliers and customers on quality issues and process / engineering change notificationsParticipates in the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) engagement in support of customer, supplier, and Jabil-initiated changesParticipates in the site Lean Culture through the use of continuous improvement tools and methodologiesParticipates in site's compliance to Quality Systems Regulations ISO 9001, ISO13485, ISO 14001 and QSR Part 820As appropriate, may be required to provide on-call support to resolve engineering related issues arising beyond normal business hoursAs appropriate, may be required to participate as an auditee in internal, customer, and third-party audits for those processes and systems within their scope of influenceAs appropriate, may be required to directly interface with customer, suppliers, and other local site departmental resources at all levels of these organizationsMaintain a clean and safe manufacturing area following 6sWorks safely at all times and complies with the Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules.KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to apply statistical methods to analyze manufacturing process output (example Cpk, Gage R&R, probability theory)Knowledge of and practical application of quality theory and practicesKnowledge of CAPA and product or process validation proceduresAdvanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil's software packagesExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationAdvanced reading, writing, and math skills required (college level)Analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills requiredMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field with 6+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering OR Quality Engineering OR equivalent in a relevant industry position including at least 4 years of supervisory or some sort of team mentoring / management experienceDESIRED REQUIREMENTS
